GLAS - A frame story

GLAS is an ode to the light. You see a life-size facade, completely built up of windows. We have been inspired by windows as the ‘eyes’ of houses and buildings. Through the eyes we see the light that enters the house, and from the outside we see the inside lights through the same eyes. You can hear the voice of American light artist James Turell, who has philosophical thoughts about light. For instance, he asks: 'Where does the light come from in our dreams?' Turell is a big inspiration for us, because he talks about light as something we can ‘feel’. And he states that, depending on our presence, light behaves differently. With these inspirations we created a world of windows with images of light from within and from outside. Light is creating shadows, light is defining the rooms and moon light plays through trees… GLAS is a play of light and space. Inside and out. Of shadow and shapes. Projection and reflection. GLAS is light, framed in a window.
